Motivate, lead & interact through
positive relationships
Building honest relationships with players, staff, administration, field crew and everyone involved
with the program to create and environment that everyone wants to be a part of.
You can be very demanding of your players when they see how much you care about them more than
just players that can help you win games, this is how trust is built.
5 keys to building healthy
relationships:
Honest and open communication
Positive reinforcement
Genuine interest
Availability
Trust
Control the controllable
There are things you can control and there are things you can’t control. You can control your attitude, work ethic, competitive nature, and discipline ways. Make sure you only worry about what you can control and put. Everything into it in order to be successful.
Win the Day:
Every day is an opportunity to win just like in competition. Find a way to get better by learning – make an impact within your job, family or friends. Do something nice for someone. No one goes undefeated. You will lose a day – learn from it and win the next day. The key is to stive to win every day. Wake up, organize your day and figure out how you can win.
Attitude:
Maintain an environment of positivity is the expectation by all in the program. Constantly remind players of their unbelievable opportunity to get an education and play soccer at University of South Carolina. Grow my players ability to handle and overcome for their future.
Work Ethic:
Going back to controlling what you can control. I can control that I am the hardest working coach in the conference and amongst the hardest in the country. This is not only an expectation of myself, but also my staff & players representing the University.
Competition:
Promote an environment that demands positive competitiveness in everything that we do. Our staff will compete to win on the field, in recruiting, and be the first staff to complete all athletic department day to day operations. Our players will compete to win on the field, in the classroom, in community service hours and other various opportunities.
Discipline:
Provide a positive – disciplined atmosphere for my student-athletes to excel. Outline clear expectations for players both on and off the field. Discipline is not a punishment. It is my job to help my players mature and develop into young professional in preparation for life after college.
